MITUS Lab MIcroengineering Therapeutic UltraSound

Ignasi Simón was born in Barcelona in 2000. He received his BSc degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, spending his senior year at the University of California San Diego. He later obtained his MSc degree in Nanomaterials at The University of Manchester as a fully funded “la Caixa” Postgraduate Fellow Abroad. His interests span a wide spectrum of topics within the MedTech field, including targeted drug delivery systems, wearable biosensors, and miniaturized devices for therapeutics.

Under Dr. Alina Rwei’s (Chemical Engineering Department) and Dr. Tiago Costa’s (Microelectronics department) supervision, he is pursuing the development of ultrasound-triggerable drug delivery systems to pharmaceutically target the mTOR pathway for treating neurodegenerative disorders.
